Bertrand Debosque’s address at the international conference: “Legal Professional Privilege: Challenges in Modern Society,” Thursday, 22nd March, in Lithuania.
On the centenary of the Lithuanian Bar, in partnership with the Council of European Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE) and the American Bar Association (ABA), Bertrand Debosque focussed last Thursday, 22nd March during an international conference, on the theme of: “Legal Professional Privilege: Challenges in Modern Society”.
The debates concerned three topics:
- Anti-money laundering
- Aggressive tax planning
- Criminal actions against advocates
Bertrand Debosque takes part more specifically in the following question: “Are lawyers prosecuted like any other wrongdoer in courts?”. This subject was approached from two angles: “Criminal investigation in law firms against lawyers’ clients” and “Criminal action against lawyers personally: what specific rules if any?” A round table discussion concluded the debates.
