Publication by the Conseil National des Barreaux of a vademecum for the sports lawyer agent

Available free of charge online (https://www.cnb.avocat.fr/fr/actualites/presentation-de-la-premiere-edition-du-vade-mecum-de-lavocat-mandataire-sportif), this vademecum is designed to help lawyers carry out their duties as lawyers acting as sportsmen’s agents (avocat mandataire sportif) in compliance with the rules of their profession.

It can also help players and clubs understand the benefits of seeking advice from a lawyer who also acts as sportsmen’s agent.

The vademecum deals in particular with the nature of the role of lawyers who act as sportsmen’s agents, their remuneration, and the distinction between them and sports agents.

It should be noted that this edition takes into account the recent French Court of Cassation (Cour de Cassation) case law on the dissociation between lawyers acting as sportsmen’s agents and sports agents, which we commented on in our May 2023 newsletter (https://www.bignonlebray.com/newsletter-droit-du-sport-mai-2023/).
