On February 2, 2018, the National Council of the Bar renewed the mandate of Bertrand DEBOSQUE, as a member of the French delegation to the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE). Bertrand DEBOSQUE hence remains Vice-Chairman of CCBE’s Ethics Committee.

A lawyer at the Lille Bar since 1985, Bertrand Debosque began his career at Bignon Lebray in the Paris office in 1983 as an associate and opened the Lille office in 1990, the year he joined the partnership.

With a dual legal background obtained in France and the United States, Bertrand DEBOSQUE advises French and international companies in labor law, tax law and commercial law.

Bertrand is a former President of the Bar of Lille (2007-2008), former member of the National Council of Bars CNB (2009-2014), former President of the Commission of European and International Affairs of the CNB (2012-2014) and Knight of the National Order of the Legion of Honor (2010).

The Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE), founded in 1960, is an international non-profit association. It defends and represents the interests of more than 1,100,000 European lawyers belonging to the Bars of the Member States of the European Union and the European Economic Area.

The CCBE is made up of the Bars of 45 countries of the European Union, the European Economic Area and greater Europe. The organization encompasses thirty-two member countries, three associated countries and ten observer countries.

The international association is organized into committees and working groups. Made up of experts, the national delegations analyze and write reports on many areas affecting the practice of the legal profession in Europe.

The CCBE is the single point of contact for the Commission and all the other European institutions with regard to the legal profession in Europe.

Since 2015, Bertrand DEBOSQUE is Vice-Chairman of CCBE’s Ethics Committee.

This Committee also examines the ethical rules of lawyers in Europe. It revises CCBE’s Code of Ethics for Cross-Border Lawyers’ Activities and the Charter of Core Principles of the European Legal Profession. He is currently working on the drafting of a Standard Code of Conduct for European Lawyers, which all European countries will have to draw on for their own national Code of Ethics.
